Paris on my mind...

In the last 2 days, Kaustubh and I have watched two really good movies: "Rat-a-touille" and "Devil wears Prada" .

Rat-a-touille : This is an animation movie...nominated for the 2007 Oscars, its said to be one of the best works from Pixar Animation Studios so far...the movie is about a countryside rat and how he makes it as a chef in one of the best restaurants of France. The animation quality is so amazingly life-like, you'll forget you are watching animation!

Or a nice long trailer from Pixar here:

You could read about the numerous awards the movie has got here:

Devil wears Prada : Released in 2006, this movie stars Meryl Streep and Anna Hathway. Meryl Streep is a highly successful fashion designer - the "crème de la crème" of the fashion industry, and, important for the story, a very demanding boss. Her employees have to -- literally -- be on their toes to keep their high profile(many would kill for) jobs. One dialog that i really liked was that of Anna Hathway when she says, "Just because she is a woman and a tough boss you think she's mean...if she were a man, you'd have taken her to be just like any other boss". The cast is just right and Meryl Streep is very impressive as a suave woman of the fashion industry. There were rumours that the character of Meryl Streep was based on the editor of American Vogue Anna Wintour...Do watch the movie if you haven't!

A small, yet interesting co-incidence : both movies give you glimpses of the beautiful city of lights - Paris. Talking about Paris (or Pariii as it is pronounced in French), i came across this lovely French song from the movie "Amélie" :

Incidently, this has been used in "Ratatouille" soundtracks :
